ALOHA! We are in Kauai. It's so great! The kids saved the meltdowns for the hotel and the car ride to the house in Kauai. All in all it was a MUCH better traveling experience than we anticipated and it makes going home not as scary:) This was my little (un)helper while I was trying to unpack when we got to the house. And below is the (un)welcoming little visitor living on our patio outside of our bedroom... you can guess that we haven't joined him for coffee yet :)

Jacob's first trip to the beach was a little intimidating so he just hung out with daddy jumping up over some of the waves.

While we were sitting on the beach a guy came by doing this crazy workout thing - pulling and pushing tires. Really he looked like he was just trying to impress the ladies (gross) and was about the pass out!!

I have heard a lot of people talk about how when it rains in Hawaii you can just keep doing what you are doing and it will pass and its still warm. It was so fun to actually experience it first hand and then see the beautiful rainbow (it was actually a double rainbow but I had a hard time getting a good picture of it). So beautiful!

My last attempt at getting the double rainbow picture...

Rebekah ~ can you see how our afternoons have been going... Poor little Rebekah. She is not really on a good sleep schedule yet. She will sleep great at night and then wake up for a hour or two and take a 2-3 hour nap and by then we are ready to go to the beach and after a few hours she is ready for another nap. Well if she is in mommy's arms she is just fine but if I put her down or walk away this is what happens...

Jacob and Olivia playing in the sand. Jacob is in heaven with the McKenna kids ~ Cole is very kind and loving and plays with Jacob and helps him out and Olivia and him are true little brother/big sister. She keeps him in line and he does everything she tells him not to do. It's pretty funny.

Part of the gang all relaxing after some time in the water.

Friday night ~ our first full day in Kauai and afternoon at the beach and we were all worn out ready for a good movie and some relaxing until bed time.

Saturday morning ~ eating some bars on the back porch ~

Rebekah chilaxin on the couch eating her bar.

The view of the mountains and Hanalei Bay from our back porch.

A closer view of Hanalei Bay and the mountains! Gorgeous! Our bedroom is upstairs and this is the view we wake up to every morning!

Rough way to wake up in the morning ~ this is also on the back porch so you can relax and have a beautiful view!

We went to a beach way up on the North Shore and got our key to the van wet so it wouldn't start. The only place they could get a good signal was out in the water so they had to keep running out there to talk on the phone. This was the only shot I got of this beach but it was fun. There was reef (that dark spot just behind the guys) so the water would break right there but then it was shallow and fun to sit on the sand and play in the water. Jacob LOVED it and played in it the entire time. I finally just sat in the sand and water and Rebekah for the most part tolerated it and smiled a few times. When we'd really get splashed from a big wave she would try to climb up my arms but overall it was really a nice morning. Although we all got burnt :(

Trying to re-hydrate after all our fun in the water while we were trying to figure out the car situation. Unfortunately the car seats were stuck inside the van so we just hung out until they finally got the van open but the key wouldn't start the van so Mike and Jake stayed waiting for the replacement car.

And the kids and I got to ride in Papa's jeep with the top off! It was so AWESOME!! Rebekah started out crying and I thought it was going to be a LONG ride home and we'd have everyone staring at us with the crying baby but magically with the music we had blasting and the wind in their faces both kids actually fell asleep! I told Papa he had to drive the kids everywhere we went from now on :)

So much fun! Next time we will get a convertible jeep!! This was our Saturday. Jacob can NOT wait to go back to the beach and play in the water and I think Rebekah will keep warming up to the idea. I'm updating this on Sunday and we just stayed home and relaxed. Partly because it is a vacation and it's nice to do nothing and party because we are all fried and it's nice to not be in the hot sun :) We have 4 more full days here so we'll get more pictures and have lots more fun!
