It's my birthday! Our baby turned 3!!

Thursday, February 17th our not so little Jacob turned 3 years old! How can that be! He is growing up WAY to fast!! We did a little decorating to celebrate on his actual birthday and then we had his birthday party the next night (pictures to follow). He was pretty excited to come downstairs and see the decorations and was even more excited when I said he could open some presents!
Mimi and Papa sent him some goodies that we had him open on his birthday and then they gave him another present that he opened at his party. He wanted a Spiderman party this year - and he was very insistent on it too. We were kind of surprised because he does not watch Spiderman on tv and really doesn't know much about him but that's what he picked so we went with it.
There really was not a lot of Spiderman anywhere that I looked (besides ordering online) but Mimi came to the rescue! She hunted all over S. California (well at least all over Simi Valley) and found such awesome goodies! Jacob was VERY excited and it could not have been more perfect! We only did a few Spiderman decorations but other than that he had nothing Spiderman to open so this was perfect! You can see he loved his stuff and was showing off his daddy's crazy eyes in the pictures - my not so favorite "new" thing he is doing for pictures...
Mommy, Daddy and Rebekah gave him a pretty fun card - it was Lightning and Mater and it sang a song when you opened it. He played with that card A-L-L morning long...
We gave him his own 'real' Bible. It's a story Bible and is written grouping several chapters together but goes through and tells stories in words he can understand and even grow into for a little while. We read it every night before going to bed. It also comes with CD's so you can listen to them which is fun too!
He also got some M-O-N-E-Y!!! He was so excited! Thank you Steve and Linda!! He is his father's son - not that he understands he can buy stuff with it but he still knows its money and that's a good thing.
It was a great morning! Jacob woke up a little before Rebekah so it was nice to just hang out with him and open presents and talk for a little bit by ourselves. Then Grandma came over and we went up to the square and had breakfast at the Windmill Cafe. Jacob always orders the same thing when we go (whenever we go) - a Mickey Mouse Pancake with syrup and a side of ketchup... Yes, ketchup. Gross, we know but he saw the ketchup sitting there one time and wanted it on his plate and then proceeded to dip his pancakes in it and has never looked back - he does it every time we go. After pancakes we went to Ulrich's meat store and got some awesome beefsticks and then to the bakery to pick out a cookie. It was a great morning!
Aunt Amy called to see if her and the boys could come over and bring Jacob a cookie (can you tell the bakeries here make good cookies). They had an early out from school and it was PERFECT weather day! I am not exaggerating either - it was 70 degrees outside in February! To put that into perspective - the day Jacob was born it was a severe snow and ice storm - the surgeon and doctors weren't very happy to have to rush in for an emergency c-section at 2am in that kind of weather and here we are 3 years later playing outside in t-shirts with the house opened up! Beautiful way to spend Jacob Paul Owens 3rd birthday!
The boys all had fun playing basketball and running around.
Rebekah was very content to sit with Aunt Amy and watch all the fun. Even Jacob had more fun watching everyone than actually joining in. I did forget to take a picture of the great basketball cookie that the Sinclairs brought for Jacob - he was very excited to have 2 cookies in one day :) I told him it was ok because it was his special day but they only come around once a year so he shouldn't get used to being so spoiled everyday ;)
That night we went over to Grandma and Papa's house and had dinner. We had to set up for his birthday party the next night. Daddy set the Wii up downstairs and we brought over some food and goodies for the next night. Mommy practiced the spider web design on an extra cake and Grandma cleaned and got the house all ready. Auntie Stacy and her boyfriend Jay were driving up from Oklahoma so there was a lot to get ready for.
When we got home we had one more present for Jacob before he went to bed! He had played with this same RC car set at the Sinclairs and we happened to find it on sale so we grabbed it for his birthday. He was SOOOO excited when he opened it up. While I bathed the kids daddy set it up for him and they raced while I put Rebekah to bed. It was a wonderful, fun filled day celebrating Jacob's 3rd birthday! We look forward to many more and the exciting times of watching him grow up in front of our very eyes!
