Wednesday ~ NW Trek

We debated back and forth about what to do with David for his field trip and decided on NW Trek. We woke up Wednesday morning and it was not very cold and not very rainy but we decided to stay home and try another day. Then about an hour later we said why not let's give it a try and go. Well... it rained and it poured and the old man snored! We got soaked :)
I really do not care for the picture of myself above, flapping my jaws and all but I had to put it in because David looked so handsome! He just turned 12 years old! I remember the day Sheryl brought him home from Russia - he was not even 2 years old and was such a sweet boy and guess what he grew up into a sweet young man!
The irony of the weather was that when we got there it was pouring the whole time we were walking around waiting for our tram tour. We get on the tram and it stops raining and the sun even peaked out a little bit. David was the photographer during out tram ride - he did a great job getting all the wildlife that was literally hanging out right next to the road! Jacob entertained all of us in the back of the bus trying to say buffalo - we finally said he could call it bison which was less funny but much easier to get out every time he saw one.
What a sweet shot of the baby bison eating :) There were three baby bison running around this herd.
This was a caribou (aka reindeer) sitting right next to the road.
Below were a herd of female elk - I am sure they have a certain name but I can't remember what it was.
Across the street from all the females were all the male elk. It was pretty funny how they were still in herds but separated by sex.
Then we snuck up on this huge moose laying next to the road.
This was a female trumpeter swan sitting on its nest. The daddy was swimming up to her when we drove by. The narrator said that one of these walked up to him one day and looked him right in the eye - he is 6 feet tall! They are huge!!
Here we are on the tram - our one dry hour of the day.
David, Rebekah and myself on the tram. David was such a trooper pushing the stroller and taking all the pictures. We had a fun field trip!
