Funny Quote

When we were at the hospital it was maybe 2 in the morning and we were all exhausted. They were still running tests on Jacob and had just told us that they wanted to do an ultrasound. So we were looking at each other wondering how we could keep Jacob happy laying on his back with someone pushing on his tummy. The wonderful thing the entire night was every time they took us out of the room for X-rays or any other test they just let me stay on the bed and hold Jacob and they wheeled both of us around. So they came in to take us and Jacob had just finished having an episode so we knew our time was very limited before he had another and we were praying we'd get there and get it over with quickly.

When we were out of the room this girl came over to the bed and started blowing bubbles while we walked. At first I'm thinking to myself who is this lady but she just kept trying to get Jacob's attention and she got on the elevator with all of us and kept blowing bubbles and trying to make Jacob smile. We got to the room for the ultrasound and moved Jacob to the bed and he was holding up ok. Then the lady came in and started blowing more bubbles and even making Jacob giggle a little bit! It was so awesome - she told us she is a Child Life Volunteer and this is her job. She tries to keep kids happy during tests and difficult things - which as a parent is awesome because we've just spent the last 6 hours trying to keep him happy during terrible things and he is just plain sick of us at this point. So she has him laughing and not paying any attention at all to the ultrasound. Then we are done and he smiled the entire time. She rides back on the elevator with us and into the room. Then Jake says "Say thank you baby" to Jacob -- he turns to the lady and says in a tired but sincere little voice "Thank you baby!". Everyone in the room just died laughing. It was the cutest and sweetest thing. Then she became even more Jacob's favorite by bringing in a Thomas movie at 2:30am. In fact when he woke up about 6 in the morning still a little drugged from the morphine he heard the beeps on the IV monitor and smiled and said "Choo Choo All Aboard!". The nurse and I just laughed because then he giggled a little and mumbled some stuff and went right back to sleep.

These were just a few little things we did not want to forget that made us smile and laugh.
