Tourist for a day...

On Monday - Amy, Micah, Grandma, Grandpa, Jacob and myself all went to town and toured the Vermeer Mill and the Historical Village.
The first part of the tour is a guided walk through the Vermeer Windmill. It is pretty cool to see the town from this angle. This was our guide who showed us all the moving parts of this working mill. It is a pretty cool tour. The mill actually grinds wheat to make flour once a month. The mill was made in Holland and then deconstructed and brought over here and put back together. You can read more through the link above. Above is the view to the North.
This is the view to the East from the top of the windmill. It really is a beautiful little town we live in.
This is the view to the south. It's what they call the Molengracht.
This is the view to the West. One of the main streets in the small downtown area. Amy and I frequent Smokey Row at the end of the block. It's the local coffee shop in town with the best Cheeseburger Chowder ever!!! We spent most of the day here with Grandpa and Great Grandma. It was a long day but it was my first time going so I really enjoyed it. If you come to visit us you'll really like this tour and it also goes along with the Scholte House which is main part of the history of Pella. Jake went with us on Wednesday to do the Scholte House tour. Then we took them to the train station so they could return home. It was a great visit and Jacob loved meeting more of his family. It was pretty fun to hear Jacob and his new noises. He is really discovering his voice but it sounds more like a squawking bird so it's pretty funny. Stay tuned as we are going to Oklahoma this weekend for Stacy's 30th birthday!!!
