Farm Crawl

We attempted our first farm crawl today. It was a GORGEOUS day out and some local farms hosted an event where you drive from one farm to the next - I think there were 6 or 7 farms involved. We really crawled and saw two farms ha ha ha! The first farm was a dairy farm that produced goat cheese and milk products. They had a little petting area with some of the baby goats - Jacob was a little scared of them but we had some good laughs because they kept trying to eat everyone's clothes!
The next farm was full of fun! We posed for lots of pictures and they had a huge slide that Jacob was a little scared to go down but he finally did with a little help. He ended up going sideways and hitting his head on the bottom so that was the first and last but he had fun watching everyone else go down it.
They had cows that were very curious and kept sticking their heads out looking for some food.
Of course lots of picture taking spots!
We had a great time and can't wait to take Daddy and Grandpa next year!
Despite this stage of deciding not to smile for pictures - Jacob really did have a good time. This was the 3 little pigs - they had 3 little houses but they were all sleeping together in one.
Then it was time for lunch - we ordered hot dogs and a pack to make some s'mores.
I knew we'd have to cook the s'mores at the fires but I didn't realize we'd have to cook the hot dogs too! It was all the fun of camping without any of the work! Jacob thought it was pretty fun to cook his own food!
THEN it was time for S'MORES! Jacob was not at all sure when I was trying to explain to him that we had to cook the marshmallows and then make a sandwich with the cracker, chocolate and marshmallow but he ate the whole thing and loved it!
Rebekah was soooooo good the whole afternoon! She slept on the way out and was very content while we were outside and slept on the way back - it was our first time in 6 months that she was so agreeable for the entire trip even the car ride! It was heavenly - granted we left around 3pm and she had not slept all day until that time but hey that was worth it for the wonderful afternoon that we enjoyed!
And yet another little picture spot...

Then the big finale! Pig Races! We thought we had missed them but just when we were getting ready to leave we saw the crowd gathering.
Jacob loved it! He cheered and yelled and had a great time!
We ended the day with some time at the "Iowa Beach" - a play area filled with corn kernels! He had fun playing just before we headed home to see daddy.
